Peterbilt Motors Company announced yesterday a limited-release of a special edition Model 389X to celebrate the iconic 389 model as its production comes to an end.

Inspired by and embodying the many iconic features of the 389 throughout the years, the Model 389X maintains the bold styling and bright exterior features found on 389 models. Including a highly polished hood crown which surrounds a classic-style, louvered grille sheet inspired by the first 1939 Peterbilt. Other eye-catching features include a brightly polished centerline trim, exclusive side-hood chrome accents and polished hood fenders.

As if the 389X wasn't going to be striking enough, in addition to exterior badging on the mud flaps and the cab or sleeper, it will also include a distinguished exterior lighting package, with LED amber colour light strips that provide lighting in the air cleaners and under the rocker panels.

Continuing on the striking features from the exterior, the interior is just as bold. With dash panels featuring a new Black Pearl burl woodgrain, special black-finish trim throughout the cab and sleeper, as well as additional special features including bright chrome grab handles, a 389X emblem on the shifter plate and embroidered 389X badging on the headrests and badging on the sleeper backwall. Each 389X will include a serialized, chrome dash plate with the production number of the unit to commemorate the special edition of each vehicle, in addition to custom 389X merchandise.

The Model 389X can be ordered as a day cab or in a 72" or 78" Sleeper configuration. The 389X production will be limited to only 1,389 trucks and is available for order now through Peterbilt dealerships.
