Mobile Service Technician

We are searching for a customer focused, self motivated Truck & Transport Technician to work as Mobile Service Technician in the Grande Prairie area. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator who is able to work independently in a fast paced environment. This is a field service position and frequent travel throughout northern Alberta is required. The Mobile Service Tech must be available to travel on short notice.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Performs on site mechanical support to new and existing customer locations in assigned territory to diagnose, repair, and perform maintenance to diesel engines, transmissions, rear ends, differentials, electrical/electronics, power systems, hydraulic systems, and other service work as required
  • Initiates service calls with new customers and sources leads to generate sales in the Service Department
  • Documents all service activity, parts and consumables used, communicates with Service Writers for billing purposes, orders parts for equipment repairs, and completes time records
  • Completes all maintenance and repair activities in a safe manner and ensures work area is clean and organized according to company policies and procedures
  • Responds by telephone, in person, and e-mail to customer technical inquiries, issues, and concerns in an effective, timely, and professional manner
  • Sustains a regular maintenance schedule for equipment, tools, and service truck including oil changes, truck washes, interior detailing, and other maintenance as required
  • Conducts business on behalf of Stahl Peterbilt in a professional manner and represents Stahl Peterbilt culture to ensure fulfillment of company vision and values; assists with successful implementation of major company programs and initiatives

Employment Qualifications:

  • Must be a certified Journeyman Truck and Transport Technician
  • Intermediate computer skills (MS Office, Excel, Outlook) and ability to acclimate to PC based order entry system
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with ‘Q’ endorsement and clean drivers abstract is required
  • MX and Cummins certified with Peterbilt or Kenworth experience is preferred
  • Ability to travel throughout central Alberta including evenings, weekends, overnight stays, and on call
  • Must have own tools
  • Knowledge of engine and gear repair, experience with computer diagnostics, and excellent trouble shooting skills are assets
  • 5 years experience as a mobile technician is preferred but negotiable
  • Must exhibit excellent verbal communication skills, as well as ability to organize and manage time appropriately
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical and criminal record check prior to hiring
